Real-life scenarios: PC privacy, handled
You don't need a hacker in the story to need screen lock software for Windows. Most moments are ordinary: you get up for coffee, leave the PC with a technician, or head out and forget it's unlocked. Here's what MoLock does in each — from locking the screen to catching intruders on your PC — and how to turn it on.
New in 2.5
Arrived with version 2.5: the camera notices anyone who comes near your locked PC, a photo alert if someone tries to shut MoLock down, and updating the app from Telegram wherever you are.
-
Scenario
Someone stands at your PC without touching it
The PC is locked and someone stands right in front of it, peering at the screen or the papers beside it, without going near the mouse or keyboard.
What MoLock does: While locked, MoLock watches the webcam. The moment it sees movement, their photo reaches your Telegram in about a second with "👀 Someone came near your PC", the device name, the time and how long it's been locked — plus buttons: "📸 Another photo", "🎥 Video", "🔊 Siren" or "🔒 OK". Lighting changes don't set it off.
On by default. Switch it on or off in
/settings(camera motion detection), and set the sensitivity and the time between alerts in Settings. -
Scenario
Someone sits down at your café table
You locked the laptop and stepped away for two minutes — and from across the room you spot a stranger sitting in front of it.
What MoLock does: Before you're back at the table, their photo is already on your phone — the camera noticed the movement even though nothing was touched. Tap "🔊 Siren" on the alert and the laptop sounds a loud alarm that gets them up in a second.
Camera motion detection is on by default; sound the alarm from the alert button, or any time with
/siren. -
Scenario
Someone tries to pause the lock or open Settings
Someone wants free rein on your PC, so they try to pause auto-lock, open MoLock's Settings or close it — guessing at the password.
What MoLock does: Every wrong password at those steps sends you a tamper alert on Telegram with a photo of whoever is trying. After 3 wrong tries the screen locks straight away. Signing out, updates and crashes never count as tampering, so there are no false alarms.
On by default. Control it in
/settings(tamper alerts), and turn on protect settings with your password. -
Scenario
A sibling ends MoLock from Task Manager
Your brother heard any app can be ended from Task Manager, so he tries it on MoLock to get the PC to himself.
What MoLock does: MoLock comes straight back — still locked if it was locked — and you get a tamper alert with his photo, so you know who tried and when, no argument needed.
Tamper alerts are on by default; keep start with Windows on. The optional guard service adds an extra layer.
-
Scenario
On holiday when a new version lands
You're away on holiday, the PC is locked at home, and you hear a new version is out.
What MoLock does: Send
/update: the bot shows what's new and the download size — tap "⬇️ Update now". A progress message keeps you posted, then MoLock checks the file and installs it. Since the PC is locked, it asks whether to install now (it locks again right away) or after you next unlock. Your password, settings and evidence are never touched./update, or "🆕 Update" in the app section of/menu./versiontells you what you're running. -
Scenario
Your first Telegram bot
You want alerts on your phone, but you've never made a bot and it sounds complicated.
What MoLock does: The setup wizard walks you through it: create the bot with @BotFather, paste its token, and the wizard checks it and shows your bot's name. Press Start in your bot, confirm "Is this you?" with your Telegram name, and a test message plus a full guide with commands and ready-to-try examples arrive in the chat.
During install or first run, or later from Settings → Intruder & alerts. Bring the guide back any time with
/guide. Details in the guide.
Work & the office
Open-plan desks, surprise meetings, and a PC that holds all your work. Let it lock itself and keep an eye out while you're away.
-
Scenario
You step away for a coffee
You leave your desk for five minutes with your inbox on screen, and a passing colleague takes a curious look.
What MoLock does: After the idle time you choose, the screen locks itself, with an optional countdown warning first. If anyone comes close — even without touching a thing — the camera notices the movement and their photo reaches your Telegram in about a second.
In Settings: set the idle timeout. Camera motion detection is on by default (new in 2.5). Or lock it yourself with your hotkey or from the tray.
-
Scenario
You get pulled into a meeting
Your manager calls you in, you jump up, forget to lock, and the meeting runs long.
What MoLock does: From your phone, mid-meeting, lock the PC in a second — or set it to lock in a few minutes.
In your Telegram bot:
/lockor/timer 5. Set up the bot with the guide. -
Scenario
Who's at my desk?
On your break, Telegram pings you: "👀 Someone came near your PC", with a photo.
What MoLock does: Tap "📸 Another photo" or "🎥 Video" right on the alert, or open a short live view and see for yourself. Maybe it's a colleague looking for a document, maybe not.
The alert's own buttons, or
/herefor a quick photo and/live 20for 20 seconds of live view. -
Scenario
Leave a note for whoever's at your PC
A colleague is waiting at your desk and you're running late.
What MoLock does: Put a message on the lock screen, have the PC say it out loud, or send it as a notification.
/lockmsg Back in 10 minutes, or/say//notifyfollowed by your text. -
Scenario
You forgot a file on your work PC
You get home and realize tomorrow's presentation is still on your office PC.
What MoLock does: Browse your folders from Telegram and pull the file you need, while the PC stays locked.
/filesto list,/cdto open a folder,/get 3to download item 3. -
Scenario
The office PC stayed on overnight
You left late and can't remember if you shut it down.
What MoLock does: Check its state from your phone — locked? battery? uptime? — then shut it down in a few minutes if you like, and cancel if you change your mind.
/status, then/shutdown 10;/cancelto call it off. -
Scenario
You're presenting to a client
Your slides are on the projector and you're talking without touching the mouse. The last thing you want is a sudden lock screen.
What MoLock does: Auto-lock waits while a full-screen app is running. Need longer? Pause it for as long as you like.
The pause on full-screen apps option in Settings, or
/pause 2hfrom Telegram or the tray. -
Scenario
A USB stick as your key
You're up and down all day and typing your password every time gets old.
What MoLock does: Make one USB stick a trusted key: plug it in to unlock, and pull it out as you leave to lock the screen.
In Settings: turn on trusted USB key and lock when the key is removed.
Home, family & the people close to you
The family PC in the living room, a curious sibling, a friend who likes to look. Privacy without drama.
-
Scenario
Kids and the family PC
The living-room PC holds your work and accounts, and the little ones love to hop on without asking — especially late at night.
What MoLock does: It locks after a short idle time, and can lock on a schedule such as bedtime. Nobody can open Settings or quit the app without the password.
Set a lock schedule in Settings and turn on protect settings with your password.
-
Scenario
Your kid wants the "cool" lock screen
Your little one keeps asking: "Is it locked? Show me!"
What MoLock does: Pick one of 35 animated themes together — Arcade, Cotton Candy, Deep Space — plus a fun unlock animation. The lock becomes something they enjoy, not something they resent.
Browse them on the themes page and pick one in Settings.
-
Scenario
A sibling or roommate reads your chats
WhatsApp Web is open on the PC and you're in the kitchen.
What MoLock does: The lock covers every monitor, and there's no password box to poke at. If they try anyway, you get photos, a clip with sound, and even what they typed.
Idle lock or your hotkey, with Telegram alerts on. Details on Protection.
-
Scenario
A nosy friend or partner
Someone close likes to take "just a quick look" at your PC when you're out.
What MoLock does: No need to accuse anyone. If there's an attempt, you'll calmly know when it happened, with evidence — and you decide whether to bring it up.
The someone approaches alert and camera motion detection in
/settings, and/lastintruderfor the latest attempt. -
Scenario
You left home with the PC unlocked
On the bus you remember the PC is unlocked and guests are still at home.
What MoLock does: Lock it from your phone now or in a few minutes. Even if you'd closed the app, the tiny background bot can open it and lock the screen.
/lockor/timer 5. Every command is on the commands page. -
Scenario
Family movie night
A two-hour film on the big screen, and no one will touch the mouse.
What MoLock does: While the movie is full-screen, auto-lock waits. Watching in a window? Pause it.
Pause on full-screen apps, or
/pause 2hand/resumeto switch back. -
Scenario
Turn the screen off from afar
You're in bed and the monitor is lighting up the whole living room.
What MoLock does: Switch the screen off from your phone and wake it whenever you like — or have it turn off on every lock.
/screenoffand/wake, or the turn screen off when locked option. -
Scenario
You forgot your password
You changed it yesterday, it's gone from your head, and the PC is locked in front of you.
What MoLock does: Type the recovery code you got at setup, or set a new password from Telegram even while locked. Anything secret the bot sends vanishes after two minutes.
Your recovery code, or
/resetpasswordin the bot.
Public places
Cafés, libraries, the university lab, a coworking space: great places to work, with lots of eyes around.
-
Scenario
At the café, you walk off with your phone
You're working in a café or coworking space and get up to order, leaving the laptop on the table.
What MoLock does: Pair your phone as a trusted Bluetooth device: when it walks away and disconnects, the screen locks; while it's connected, the PC unlocks.
In Settings: trusted Bluetooth device and lock when it goes away.
-
Scenario
In the library
You go to fetch a book from the shelves; a video is playing and the room is silent.
What MoLock does: The screen locks after a short while and mutes the audio, so nobody gets disturbed.
A short idle timeout and the mute audio when locked option.
-
Scenario
In the university lab
You leave your laptop on the bench to ask the TA something, in a lab full of students.
What MoLock does: Lock it with your hotkey as you stand up. If someone jokes around and tries to open it, the whole attempt is recorded and sent to you.
Pick your lock hotkey in Settings; evidence collects in the evidence timeline from the tray.
-
Scenario
Someone watches you unlock
In a crowded place, someone beside you watches the screen while you type your password.
What MoLock does: There's no box and no dots — just a subtle typing pulse that never reveals how long your password is.
Works out of the box: just type your password at any moment on the lock screen.
Theft, loss & travel
When the PC is truly out of reach, Telegram becomes your eyes and hands: location, camera and full control.
-
Scenario
Your laptop is stolen
The laptop vanished from your bag. Once someone opens it and it's online, you have tools to help.
What MoLock does: Get its detailed location and a map pin, have it report its position every few minutes, and quietly photograph whoever is using it. Then hand that to the authorities.
/where,/locate,/geoloop 5,/photo(or/silentphoto). -
Scenario
You left it in a taxi
You lost it, and whoever found it probably wants to return it but has no idea whose it is.
What MoLock does: Put your number on the lock screen, and have the PC say aloud that it's lost and how to reach you.
/lockmsgwith a contact number, and/sayfor a spoken message. -
Scenario
Travelling, PC left at home
You're away for a week and the PC stays at home or the office.
What MoLock does: Make sure auto-lock isn't paused, check in on the PC daily from your phone, and track it if it moves.
/statusshows whether a pause is on,/resumebrings auto-lock back, and/geoloop 5tracks location (stop with/geoloop off). -
Scenario
The internet is down while someone tries
The router is off and someone is trying passwords on your PC.
What MoLock does: Evidence is still captured on the PC and queued; the moment the connection returns, it's sent to you automatically.
Nothing to do — retrying is always on. You can see delivery status in the evidence timeline.
Attempts to get past the lock
Guessing the password, closing the app, or forcing you to unlock. Each attempt gets a calm, deliberate response.
-
Scenario
Someone tries to guess your password
Someone sits down and starts guessing: your birthday, your name, 123456…
What MoLock does: Before they type a single key, the camera has noticed them and their photo is on your phone. Then each wrong try becomes an incident: a photo burst, a clip with sound, a screenshot, the location and what they typed — one album on Telegram. After a few tries, a cooldown kicks in.
Link Telegram via the guide, and set attempts and cooldown in Settings.
-
Scenario
Someone tries to close or kill the app
Someone a bit tech-savvy tries to quit MoLock or end it from Task Manager.
What MoLock does: While locked, Task Manager is blocked. Exiting and Settings are password-protected, and a wrong password there — or ending it from Task Manager — sends you a tamper alert with a photo. If it's killed anyway, the watchdog brings it right back, still locked if it was locked.
Turn on protect settings and start with Windows, plus the optional guard service if you like. Tamper alerts are on by default.
-
Scenario
Someone forces you to unlock
A tough moment: someone pressures you to unlock the PC in front of them.
What MoLock does: Type your duress password: the PC opens as normal, while a silent alert and photo go to Telegram and it's logged.
Set a duress password in Settings — different from your main one.
-
Scenario
Someone plugs in a USB stick
While you're away, someone plugs a USB stick into the PC.
What MoLock does: Every USB insertion is written to the activity log with the time, so you can check later what happened.
Turn on log USB insertions in Settings; review it in the app or with
/log. -
Scenario
A decoy screen
You'd rather passers-by not even know there's a lock.
What MoLock does: The lock poses as a Windows Update, a shutdown, a blue screen or "No signal" — and you still just type your password to open it.
Choose a decoy screen in Settings.
-
Scenario
You need to lock in an instant
Someone walks in unexpectedly while something private is on screen.
What MoLock does: The panic hotkey locks instantly, turns the screen off and sends you an alert.
Optional: choose a panic hotkey that suits you in Settings.
Study, exams & remote work
Focus without interruptions, privacy on calls, and a lock that never cuts into your lecture.
-
Scenario
Exam season
You're studying and your little brother wants the PC for "just five minutes".
What MoLock does: Lock it and make the lock screen useful: a Pomodoro timer, a countdown to the exam, and prayer times.
Add the widgets you like in Settings — fully Arabic when the app is in Arabic.
-
Scenario
A long online lecture
A two-hour lecture and you won't touch the keyboard.
What MoLock does: Pause auto-lock for a set time; it resumes by itself afterwards, so you can't forget.
From the tray or
/pause 2h— anywhere from 5 minutes to 7 days. -
Scenario
Working from home
The work laptop is at home, and the kids are playing around it during your break.
What MoLock does: Lock it with your hotkey as you get up: stray clicks and keys won't touch your work. And if you don't want the lock screen showing up in screen captures, there's an option to exclude it.
Your lock hotkey, and the exclude lock screen from capture option in Settings.
Second by second
What happens when someone touches your PC?
- Step 1
Someone comes near the PC
Even without touching anything, the camera notices the movement and their photo reaches your Telegram in about a second — "👀 Someone came near your PC" — with buttons for another photo, a video or a siren. Touch the mouse or keyboard and the same alert fires.
- Step 2
They try a password
There's no box or button to find, and nothing reveals the password's length.
- Step 3
The attempt is recorded
A photo burst, a clip with sound, a screenshot, the location and what was typed.
- Step 4
It reaches you on Telegram
All of it in one album from your private bot. Offline? It's sent the moment the connection is back.
- Step 5
The lock holds
After a few wrong tries a cooldown starts and Task Manager stays blocked. If someone tries to shut the app down, you get a tamper alert with their photo — and it comes back locked, just as it was.
- Step 6
You decide what's next
From your phone: look for yourself with
/live 20, leave a note with/lockmsg, or switch the screen off with/screenoff. - Step 7
You come back and unlock
Type your password anytime — everything that happened is waiting in the evidence timeline.
