Why the old clipboard keeps failing you
The classic clipboard holds exactly one thing. Copy a phone number, then copy an address, and the phone number is gone. Most of us work around this without noticing: we keep a scratch document open, we paste things into a chat with ourselves, we copy the same paragraph from the same old email every week. Each workaround costs a few seconds and a little attention, many times a day.
There is also a quieter problem. Whatever sits on the clipboard stays there until something replaces it — sometimes for hours. If the last thing you copied was a password or a bank detail, it is waiting for the next paste, in whichever window that happens to be.
The new clipboard in MoLock 2.7 is designed around both problems: remember more of what is useful, and remember nothing that is dangerous.
A history, not a single slot
Every time you copy text, a link or an image, MoLock adds it to a short, tidy list. Open the clipboard panel and you see your recent items newest first, each with a small preview: the first lines of a text, the address of a link, a thumbnail of an image. Click an item to put it back on the clipboard, then paste as usual.

Finding "that tracking number from this morning" becomes a glance down a list instead of a hunt through tabs. The panel opens with a keyboard shortcut, which you can change or turn off in Settings like every other MoLock shortcut.
Pinned items and snippets
History is for things you copied recently. Some text, though, you need again and again: your address, a bank reference you give clients, a polite "thank you, received" reply, a standard project description. Pin an item and it stays at the top of the panel instead of scrolling away.
Snippets go one step further: they are pieces of text you save on purpose, give a short name and reuse whenever you like. Think of them as a small personal phrasebook — the support reply you send ten times a day, the directions to your office, the signature you use on a particular form.
One-click fixes for messy text
Text copied from websites, PDFs and emails rarely arrives clean. It brings odd fonts and colours along, ends with stray spaces, or comes in ALL CAPITALS when you needed a normal sentence. Instead of pasting into a text editor to clean it, you can transform an item straight from the panel:
- Paste as plain text — drop fonts, colours and links so the text matches wherever you paste it.
- Change case — UPPER, lower, Sentence case or Title Case.
- Trim — remove spaces at the start and end, and collapse the double spaces and empty lines that copied text often brings along.
The original item is kept in the history, so a transform never loses anything: if you change your mind, the untouched version is still one click away.
The wrong-layout fix (a favourite for bilingual typists)
Anyone who types in both Arabic and English knows the moment: you look up from the keyboard and discover that the last sentence went in with the wrong layout. You meant to greet someone with السلام عليكم, and the screen says hgsghl ugd;l. You meant to type hello and got اثممخ.
The letters are not random. Each key simply produced the character it carries on the other layout, which means the mistake can be reversed exactly. Copy the garbled text, choose Fix keyboard layout, and MoLock maps every character back to the key you actually pressed and gives you the sentence you meant, ready to paste.

Your clipboard on your phone
A very common reason people email themselves is to move a bit of text from the PC to the phone: an address for the maps app, a code, a link to finish reading later. If you have a MoLock Account, you can switch on clipboard sync and your recent items appear in your account, which you can open in your phone's browser.
Two rules keep this safe and tidy:
- Everything is encrypted on your PC before it leaves, and decrypted only in your own browser after you sign in. The MoLock service stores scrambled data it cannot read. If you want the idea explained without jargon, read how end-to-end encryption protects your notes and photos.
- Synced items expire. By default a synced item is deleted after 24 hours. Pinned items can stay for up to 30 days, and nothing synced is kept longer than that.
Sync is off until you turn it on, and the history on your PC works perfectly well without it.
Remember more of what is useful, and remember nothing that is dangerous.
What MoLock refuses to remember
A clipboard history is only a good idea if it is careful. So some things are deliberately never written to the history, never synced and never shown in the panel:
- Text that looks like a password — the kind of random-looking string that password generators produce.
- Text that looks like a payment card number.
- Anything a password manager marks as private. Good password managers flag the passwords they copy so that clipboard tools leave them alone. MoLock respects that flag.
These items still work for the paste you copied them for — MoLock simply does not keep a copy. And because it never stores them, they can never be synced, searched or seen by someone who opens the panel later.
Where it lives, and how to clear it
The history lives on your PC, alongside your other MoLock data. You can delete a single item, clear everything that is not pinned, or turn the history off entirely in Settings. Synced copies in your account expire on their own, as described above.
And while MoLock is locked, the lock screen covers everything, the clipboard panel included: nobody standing at your desk can browse your history.
Small things, every day
None of this is dramatic. It is a few seconds saved on a pasted address, a sentence that did not need retyping, a password that was never left lying around. Multiply those by every working day, and the clipboard becomes one of the quietly useful parts of MoLock.
